SYNOPSIS:
Private investigator and unsold screenwriter Daniel Madison is out on an assignment when he sees the beautiful, international singing star, Amy Lou, on stage.
His inquiry of her starts in motion his secretary, Crystal, and her friend, Shelli, who is Amy Lou’s mother, to hatch a plot to unite these two lonely sixty-year-olds.
A day at the park at the “Benefit for the Retreat,” and a rigged auction for a dinner date with Amy Lou puts these two together.
After a wonderful first date, Daniel’s lack of understanding of women and dating etiquette, fuels his decision to play it cool and not call Amy Lou for a week.
Amy Lou’s feeling of rejection angers Shelli and Crystal and prompts them to confront Daniel. Daniel, suddenly becoming aware of his feelings for Amy Lou and the fact he may lose his only chance for happiness, rushes to her.
Bring her flowers and planting a kiss on her sets the stage for love and marriage.
The plans for marriage are put on hold with Daniel’s first screenplay sell. A story he started writing about their love. Daniel is asked to spend three months in Italy filming the movie.
The film’s star, Gina Russo’s desire for publicity by orchestrating an alleged affair between herself and Daniel gets back to Amy Los and her family. Amy Lou is sure he’s like all men.
Shelli’s text goes unanswered because it is night in Italy and Daniel is asleep. As soon as he wakes up and sees the text, he abandons the movie set and flies home to a distraught Amy Lou. His phone calls to Shelli go unanswered.
Being rejected by the love of his life, Daniel moves to Hollywood and takes up with a gold-digger half his age. Her dislike of Humphrey is oblivious. When she goes behind Daniel’s back and sells Humphrey to a Chinese market, Daniel freaks out and rushes off to save Humphrey from a slaughter.
This is the straw that leads Daniel back to Amy Lou.
Unannounced, Daniel has moved back to Nashville.
