A brilliant lawyer with crippling anxiety loses his job and pursues his dream of being a stand-up comedian.
SYNOPSIS:
Kip McGregor (36), married father of two, is a brilliant lawyer suffering from acute chronic anxiety.
Kip's father died in a tragic car accident when Kip was ten-years old. On his father's deathbed, Kip promised his father that when he grew up, he would be just like him. He kept his promise.
Kip's wife (Liv) has high expectations of Kip and enjoys the lifestyle his career as an attorney provides.
Kip's anxiety renders him incapable of performing the demands of his role as an attorney. He gets fired from his job (for the second time).
Kip is lost; he and Liv are at odds. Kip moves in with his mother who lives in the low-income neighborhood she moved the family to after her husband's death. Kip's childhood best friend (Freddie) still lives next door in his mother's basement.
When Kip and Freddie were teenagers, they dreamed of being a comedic team. This is their chance to give it a real shot.
Kip's social anxiety keeps him from going on stage to perform. He writes jokes for Freddie until he can muster the courage to go on stage to confront his demons.
With the odds stacked against him, and only Freddie providing support, Kip finds the courage to be his authentic self. This allows him to heal, thrive and ultimately win back his family.
