A native of Los Angeles California, African American Composer Karen Martin studied classical piano and orchestration in London and has performed her music in England, Austria, Italy and Los Angeles.
She composed and produced the multimedia production “Nowhere Did I Leave Footprints” at the Los Angeles Theater Center and has scored the music to several films including the film “A FATE FORETOLD”, which screened at many festivals here and in Europe, and played on the Sci-Fi Channel as well as "OUTSIDE” which screened on Showtime Networks as well as winning Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Film award at ComicCon. Two of her film scores were finalists at the Moondance film competition.
Her scoring for stage productions include “The Birthday Present 2050” directed by Jonathan Sanger (The Producers, Elephant Man, Vanilla Sky, Marshall) and the “The Red Dress” written by Tania Wisbar. Her recent film, "Charlie and the Hunt" will be screening at the Cannes Film Festival, 2022 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase.
She has an MFA in Music from CalArts. A Sundance Fellow, Member of ARRAY Crew, Composers Diversity Collective and Women in Media.
