LOGLINE:

The small town of BlueEye Missouri is selected to trial a new drug that claims to eradicate negative thoughts and feelings, but when a young girl goes missing on day one, outside detectives are called in to investigate.

SYNOPSIS:

Kansas based pharmaceutical company ‘Ditmay’ selects the small town of Blue Eye, Missouri to trial test a brand new drug. This drug claims to eradicate negative thoughts and promote happiness, acting similarly to heroin albeit without the health risks and addiction. With the promise of several million dollars after completing the week long trial on all five hundred and fifty townspeople, sex addict and BlueEye mayor Sam Reid and respected parishioner Ron Filpot are more than excited.

Things begin to deteriorate on day one of the trial when teenage goth Maggie White is reported missing and this being the first reported crime in more than a decade, suspicions about the safety of the drug begin to stir.

To aid in the investigation, seasoned detectives Arnold Silver and new recruit Tess Munroe are called in to help locate the girl and better understand the side effects of this new drug. Having not had an exciting case in a number of years and nearing retirement, detective Silver’s tenacity and bloodhound like desire for the truth comes into play.

The finger of blame is cast upon several townspeople and questions are asked. Silver’s aggressive approach mixed with Munroe’s killer gut instincts means they will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of it.

Strange and suspicious behaviour within the town sparks concern for the detectives and their focus is pulled towards the creators of the drug as they hunt for answers from Kansas. It becomes a race against time to find the girl, solve the case and keep the rest of the town safe.

All the while a disjointed narrative of Silver’s tumultuous past is peppered throughout the story. The breakdown of his marriage and the tragedy of his daughter's leukemia diagnosis. Synchronicities build between the past and present, erupting in a gripping, bitter sweet mind melding climax.
