WHITNEY (A STETSON STORY)

A dysfunctional multi-generational family drama comes to a head on the Candi farm when the patriarch refuses to sell the land, his son wants to retire to Miami, but when the granddaughter's illness worsens the important question becomes who is ready, willing, and able to take care of the children?

COMPS are August Osage County meets Hillbilly Elegy.

SYNOPSIS:

It's morning on the Candi farm and heir apparent Elvis Candi, along with his latest wife Lee Candi get ready for another easy retirement day. Elvis interacts with his elder father and patriarch Olaf Candi. Although Olaf lost his legs in the war, he is still going strong and as alive as ever with the assistance of his caretaker and companion Whitney Brooks(Elvis' 1st wife, now a mystery lady who wears a burka).

Putting goats milk in the truck, Elvis and Lee drive into the city where Elvis' daughter Felicity lives. Felicity has been sick for sometime but she has just received a terminal diagnosis. She has six weeks to live. This opens the very important question: who will take care of her Children, Janice and Quin? If none is willing, the children will go into Foster Care.

Felicity's situation goes from bad to worse when she goes to her job and gets fired. She meets with a now homeless friend Rudy and she actually considers him over foster care. Could Rudy be better than Foster Care? Not to Olaf, he Insists Felicity and his great grand children Janice and Quin come and live with him, Elvis, Lee and Whitney at the Candi farm. Felicity is reluctant to leave her children with any of her family.

Lee has talked Elvis into her dream of retiring in Miami and out of the cold winters. Olaf is welcome to go with them but he is fine where he is. Major family conflict arises between Olaf and Elvis about selling the farm whole or in parts. Olaf rejects the idea of selling and now boosts he may live to 200 years old but a hospice nurse Maggie May is brought in for him and Felicity.

Meanwhile, hopefully to no ones knowledge, Lee has been having an affair with Elvis' grandson Marco. But that hope begins to unravel for Lee when some kids see them parked at a nearby school. After the discover of the lovers the kids have nothing better to do, those kids burn down the abandoned school. The Police visit the Candi Farm and ask to see the video from the camera Elvis installed in the truck. More drama comes when Whitney over hears Janice securing a deal with Lee to take her and Quin to Miami if she keeps the secret of what she saw in the school parking lot. Still, Olaf takes it all in stride and bonds with his great grand son, Quin.

After her cousins arrive, Janice attempts to bond with the girls. Together, they go to the barn and drama occurs when tease Elvis' blue ribbon bull, Last Chance. The drama continues to unfold as Olaf pushes Elvis to confront Lee about her alleged extramaritally affairs. Elvis puts down Last Chance shows Lee that he is not moving to Miami, but Lee does not give up.

Olaf knowing he will die and nothing will be fixed for his great grandchildren, he writes a new will and being the joker he is, Olaf hides clues for his family about the will and dies his way. No one can find Olaf but, Whitney finds her copy of Olaf's will. With Felicity on her death bed, Elvis confronts Marco in front of Lee and sends them to Miami for his investment. Marco leaves but Lee does not want half the farm she wants all the farm. Whitney defeats Lee and decides to stay on the farm with Elvis. Felicity dies and Whitney takes over parenting of Janice and Quin.

We see a short time later that Janice and Quin are thriving on the Candi farm.
