Three strangers form an instant connection, when unfortunate events push them to chase their 1980’s British band idols.
SYNOPSIS:
Chasing the Buzz is a female bonding movie, written along the lines of “Bridesmaids” & Wine Country. I think people can identify with the unpredictable elements of life no matter what your economic status or ethnic background. As a fifty-five year old myself, I confess it’s inspired by my favorite band “ Depeche Mode”.
When three strangers experience their worst birthday ever, all reason goes out the window. Kit Garland, Perri Haru, & Rosie De la Cruz meet at a buddhist temple, seeking peace and serenity after traumatizing events that day. They discover that they all share the same birthdays, even to the year. They also discover they all have a love for their favorite 1980’s alternative boy band, The Buzz.
After a day of drinking, they call up The Buzz’s band manager, Linden Clarke and fake credentials to get them to provide craft service for the band. Linden likes the idea that the ladies are in her age group. They call their company The Posh Mental Cows.
The band falls in love with the amazing food and personal service that they provide. They are starting to get fat. They decide to take them on the rest of the tour in Europe.
Kit eventually is forced to reveal that her and the lead singer Fordwich Rovers had conceived a child from a one night stand at the Rose Bowl concert in the 1980’s. Fordwich has been looking for Kit all these years. Kit’s son Ford, who she named after Fordwich died on Halloween from an accidental overdose at age twenty.
Perri has lived a privileged life. All the finest things, the best schools including training at the Cordon Bleu in Paris. As a rich Japanese wife, she has lived her life catering to her husband Kaki, who is screwing their gay neighbor Felipe.
Perri forms a romance with The Buzz’s serious bass player and songwriter, Charles Bonham. She must face Kaki and walk away from everything to regain her confidence. Perri takes a job as Fleet Lake’s personal chef in London. Fleet is lead guitarist for The Buzz.
Rosie De la Cruz loves good food ,and bad boys. Through some poor life choices she is on the verge of getting evicted from her crappy apartment. She straightens her life out and becomes close friends with Hero Hollis, the bands gay keyboard player. She teaches Hero a thing or two about make-up. Rosie ends up freelancing for hair and make-up for film & TV.
Kit returns to her sad, day job at Warner’s Market. Rosie surprises her with a phone call from Linden Clarke. The band is touring again and they want their Posh Mental Cows back. The girls reunite. They know now they can make any dream come true.
