Based
on a true story, two women with the same life calling to make a
difference through humanitarian work, one just starting out in her
career, the other on the verge of retirement, face a tragedy that not
only affects them but ultimately changes the world forever.
SYNOPSIS:
Hoping to make a difference through humanitarian work, in 2000, Fen, 20s, commences a role with the Australian Red Cross as National Communications Officer.
Her idealism is soon challenged as she is faced with reporting details of the never ending flow of heartache caused by conflict and natural disasters in the world, and a boss who lacks any hint of empathy.
With the intent of writing a feel good story, Fen interviews Yvonne, 60s, who is up for an award for her work with the Red Cross and on the verge of retirement.
Whilst Yvonne committed her life to humanitarian work and helped in the aftermath of some of the worst disasters in Australian history, she too suffered tragedy in her life but showed great resilience and Fen learns from her the lesson of first taking care of oneself in order to be most beneficial in helping others.
A horrific incident occurs that takes Yvonne's life and changes Fen and ultimately the world forever – Yvonne is on the plane that crashes into the Pentagon on 11 September 2001.
