After getting kicked out of her troop, a disgraced Girl Scout leader strong-arms her way into a new group of crass and conniving scoutmasters.
SYNOPSIS:
Written as part of the Sundance Creator Lab Fellowship, Scoutmasters looks at how scouting’s 20th century idealism butts up against 21st century realism via a group of scout leaders and their kids. We follow Scout leaders (definitely not the Boy Scouts---we legally can't stress that enough) and their troop as they navigate these well intentioned, but out-of-date scouting lessons such as “Women are frail!”, “Crying is wrong”, and “Why God gave you polio.”
Scoutmasters is a single-cam comedy that questions the established ethos and shines a light on the hypocrisy of scouting while paying homage to its virtues.
