SYNOPSIS:
PILOT:
As the police announce the death of her parents, Eve's head spins in understanding the responsibility she must face as a young mother with a seven-year-old daughter named Clover. Her high school education won't be enough to support her daughter, much less the college she's been attending. So she uses her meager inheritance to purchase a little home in a little mountain town called Eden, hoping to start fresh. But she will need a job, and the internet provides her with a couple of leads that may solve her financial dilemma not too far from town.
None of the jobs she investigates suits what she needs, but then she finds another avenue. The owner of Paradise, Jerry, proves to be a character and not at all what Eve anticipated from an exotic dance club. Jerry explains that this club varies from other clubs because the dancers are buck naked, but no alcohol is allowed, and a bar encircles the "no contact" stage. The great news is that if she can do it, having to earn for survival will be the furthest thing from her mind. Auditioning for the position, she borrows a drink from one of the girls who has a purse full of mini-bottles and totally rocks the stage, getting the job. Of course, telling her daughter she's a stripper won't solve anything, and it's about the only choice she has at the time.
Life is going well. The principal, Adam, who happens to be the elder brother of Clover's teacher, likes the new mom in town--a lot. The two start dating and Eve finally feels relaxed and like everything will be fine at home. She's made a lot of new and somewhat crazy friends at work, and she's bringing in the big bucks. But that's when things go awry.
The man who had raped her eight years ago, has been released from the pen and has determined to make her pay for each and every year he's spent thinking about how she ruined his life. When he tracks her down, she and her date playfully watch a movie with Clover upstairs in bed when a knock at her door alerts her to a guest. Upon cracking the door to take a look, it flies open, knocking her against the wall as her assailant and father of her child pushes past her into the house.
A fight ensues and Adam scuffles with Jason until he busts out the rear door. On the wall, fresh red paint runs from a heart with an arrow through it, as if a junior high doodle, with the note carelessly sprayed inside, "Jason + Jessica = Forever."
