It’s true – the first ten pages of your screenplay are the most important, and if they are not compelling it is very unlikely that your story will sell or be made into a film. Learn the four essential elements that must be in the first 10 pages of your screenplay.

Writers will write many things before anyone takes notice. I have written twelve things from micro-shorts, to shorts to features and only four have got the attention of producers. It is not that the other material is not good or marketable, it is not commercial enough.

I assure you this post is not about me, The question is, when do you know what you have written? For me, usually after the second draft I will know how marketable the story I am working on might be and if it is something studios will find entertaining or if the story is going to be harder to sell.
