Parallel worlds collide and long-buried secrets are revealed when an American writer fresh out of rehab encounters a rift in the space/time continuum and meets her great grandmother In Ireland.
SYNOPSIS:
Kate Driscoll, American P.R. executive, is fresh out of rehab. Her job is in jeopardy, her husband wants a divorce, and her teenage daughter is barely speaking to her.
Her agency sends her to Ireland to research her ancestors and write about the trip. She and her daughter stay at Tir Na Nog, a once-grand estate, now operated as a hotel.
Kate is desperate. She’ll do anything to fix her relationship with her daughter, ace this assignment, and get her old life back, but when she encounters a ghost (Grianne), she fears she’s losing her mind. And her sobriety.
Cut to the year 1910, where Grianne O’Malley, daughter of an Irish potato farmer, works as a maid at the big estate, Tir Na Nog. She secretly writes articles for the local newspaper advocating for Irish independence. In spite of her Catholic upbringing and her political beliefs, she rejects the man her father wants her to marry and falls in love with Diarmuid Moore, second son of the aristocratic family who owns Tir Na Nog.
Torn between her dream of an independent Ireland and her love for an Anglo Irish aristocrat, Grianne is further tormented with visions of a strange woman (Kate) who seems to fade in and out of the mist around Tir Na Nog.
As Einstein said, time is an illusion and everything is happening all at once. We’re here, but our ancestors are here too - they’re just in another dimension.
Sometimes, we can see them.
