About Ulrike

Ulrike Baumann (b. 1967) is a German screenwriter whose stories explore the boundary between rationality and the (still) unexplainable. She feels at home in the worlds of horror, science fiction, and the supernatural.

In her screenplays, she uses supernatural elements as metaphors for repressed emotions and unresolved conflicts – not to frighten, but to reveal. Her aim is to provoke thought, evoke emotion, and uncover the deeper truths that lie beneath the surface.

Her short story Mr. Gong’s Antique Shop was shortlisted in a flash fiction competition and published in an anthology (2019). Her one-page screenplay Dark Christmas was a finalist in the Australasian Screenplay Competition (2022).

Ulrike is currently developing several genre projects for screen – dark, elegant, and emotionally charged stories that challenge perception and explore the unknown.
