A spunky elderly woman and a cautious young reporter uncover a murder in a tranquil German town, leading them deep into a web of political intrigue and secrets.
SYNOPSIS:
"Dark Chocolate" follows CHRISTA, a Berlin pensioner, as she becomes embroiled in a complex murder case during her visit to the fictional small town of Myllenbach in Brandenburg, Germany.
When her friend BETTINA dies from a chocolate truffle laced with peanut oil, Christa doesn't believe it was an accident. Determined to unveil the truth, she realizes that courage and her brash Berlin demeanor alone won't suffice. Her only ally is EMIL, a young reporter initially hesitant to take risks. However, together, this unconventional investigative duo sets off a series of events that jolts the town's residents, forcing them to confront the bitter reality that a murderer is in their midst.
Their collaborative investigation, marked by initial differences of opinion and a series of false leads, eventually uncovers a political conspiracy tied to a planned server factory. JULIA, the mayor's assistant, is revealed as the murderer, driven by desperation to force the sale of Bettina’s property to advance the mayor's political agenda.
