A LETTER TO REMEMBER

LOGLINE:

Two black preschoolers fall in love at daycare but are torn apart when one family moves across the country. They become pen pals. One day they meet in person and love flourishes, but will it be happily ever after?

SYNOPSIS:

Act 1:

Two black preschoolers, Shaneequa and Tiquan, in Palm Springs, California attend the same daycare and grow fond of each other. One family stays in Palm Springs, while the other moves to the east coast. The preschoolers are torn apart.

Act 2:

With a great distance between them, the preschoolers become pen pals and write letters to each other as they grow up. After they grow up, they meet again and their love is rekindled.

Act 3:

The couple gets married and they decide to have a baby. Shaneequa gets pregnant, suffers birth complications in the form of preeclampsia, and does not survive. Their baby girl does survive and hope lives on in her.

Epilogue:

Black women have a 3x maternal mortality rate than white women. Know the signs of preeclampsia.
