A guilt-ridden man suffering demonic hallucinations from his traumatic past falls under the spell of a powerful witch doctor determined to kill him.

SYNOPSIS:

Sean Price wakes bathed in cold sweat from terrifying demonic hallucinations in his room. As he goes about his day the shadowy beast, Mal, continues to hunt him. Sean cannot escape Mal and the reminder of a traumatic past that includes witnessing his mother’s horrifying death. Modern medicine has been to no avail for Sean and the disembodied voices that plague him. And now, his sanity is at stake.

Aided by his helpful painter girlfriend, Aliena Hartford, Sean returns to his childhood home in Louisiana to confront his personal history. It is also the opportunity to reconcile with his estranged father, Gene. While there, Sean notices a strange female watching him from the neighboring house. He finds out her name is Sylvia and she is purposely killing Gene’s plants. Sean continues to reject Gene’s emotional support and believes his father to be possessed by Mal. Sean is still not over the resentment of having been sent away as a troubled youth by Gene.

In fact, Sean demands that Gene never contact him again after storming from the man’s house. However, once in the driveway, Sean and Aliena are attacked by a gang. Sean is stabbed nearly to death while Aliena is snatched. He comes under the care of Sylvia and gladly discovers that Aliena is also rescued. As it turns out, Sylvia is a witch doctor who guarantees to restore peace to Sean. She also says that her house is a convergence of the physical, spiritual and dream realms: an “in-between place” for souls. She also claims that Sean is a “dream walker” shaman.

While recuperating in Sylvia’s home, Sean encounters doors that lead to mystifying portals. Then Sean becomes trapped in the house by power-hungry Sylvia who wants him dead. Sean finds himself strapped to a surgical table and Mal with a scalpel hovering over him. Sean narrowly flees an untimely fate. After taking part in a Satanic ritual with Sylvia in her effort to force Sean to accept his internal “darkness,” he is put through a final test: succumb to death with the promise of being reborn.

Sean is now under Sylvia’s spell when he agrees to participate in this dangerous journey. Now captured in a portal with Sylvia who unveils her real intentions, death appears imminent for Sean. That is, until he is given power by his own ancestral spirit guides. Sylvia, who herself is possessed by an evil spirit intent on stopping Sean’s potential, is killed. Sean is reunited with Gene and Aliena. Sean embraces his identity as a shaman of his people. The spirit voices never leave Sean, but he has learned to trust that they are there to assist him.
