SYNOPSIS:
The story begins in the residence of DAMIEN, a wealthy and notable homosexual magician as he lashes himself with a cat-o-nine-tails while reading from an occult book. He hears the insidious whispers of LUCIFER himself. Damien pledges his blood and heart to Lucifer as his black cat -- also named Lucifer – possessed by the very demon prowls nearby. Damien wishes to be all knowing if he is to truly love Lucifer, who promises to show his macabre ward mercy in exchange. He tells Damien he's spared him, referring to the lost soul as his child. Damien goes to meet with his agent JENKINS, proposing his latest and most death defying trick yet: playing Russian roulette on live television. Jenkins is very much against it, but Damien demands that he talk to the broadcasters to strike a deal.
Meanwhile, LUCY, a gorgeous brunette watches MARC DRAYMOND, a glib TV host, present his show. After a beat, Lucy's identical older sister ANABELLE shows up and they have a light chat with some wine. Lucy tells Anabelle her work is getting hazardous and Anabelle can relate -- both of them independently work as magician's assistants for two different performers. A gay BDSM orgy is underway at Damien's house. There, he encounters LOGAN, a captivating hunk, who immediately catches Damien's eye. They have rough sex, and, post climax, get to know each other better. Logan comments on Damien's lashing wounds, to which Damien explains that he's practicing the dark arts and is cursed. Logan feels Damien is self loathing over his sexuality and tries to get him to accept himself to no avail.
MATTHEW, Damien's principal competitor on the magic scene, performs for a sold out arena as Damien and Jenkins watch amidst the crowd. Matthew's assistant, none other than Anabelle, arrives for his latest act -- the "bullet catch." She loads a rifle and fires it at Matthew, only for him to catch it in his mouth. Jenkins is astonished, while Damien seems slightly embittered to hear the rapturous reception to his rival's trick. Damien meets up with Logan and they discuss the nature of lock before making love. Later, Damien slips off and talks with Lucifer, who calls him weak, prompting another whipping session. Logan walks in on this and questions why Damien must harm himself, raising his hackles and causing him to lash out in anger. Afterwards, Logan tells Damien he's bisexual and is questioning whether he should be with a man or not.
Jenkins calls up superficial TV exec DANIEL to pitch him the roulette feat. Daniel finds the idea insane and insists that it would break broadcasting regulations, but Jenkins says Damien is adamant. In his modest workshop, Matthew tells his agent BRADLEY that, for his next act, he's going to attempt to fly, with help from God's divine grace. He begins to levitate off the ground as Bradley looks on in awe. Bradley states that Matthew's competition with Damien is being viewed as "the spiritual war," but Matthew says he doesn't fear his rival. Lucy spots Logan in a café and approaches him. It becomes clear that Logan used to date Anabelle, but Lucy is now interested in him. They have a flirtatious exchange, but Logan tells Lucy he's bi and has a boyfriend, but she remains undeterred.
Damien records a trick wherein he plays eleven seasoned chess champions at once Guided by memories of Lucifer's wisdom, he manages to defeat them all. Matthew practices his levitation routine as Anabelle looks on. Afterwards, Anabelle informs Matthew that she's planning to move on in life and can no longer be his assistant. He graciously accepts this and bids her a tender farewell. Damien does a performance wherein he pulls a man up on stage and takes him over to a canvas. He tells the man to picture any person, then claims that he will read his mind and paint that individual. He paints a figure but the man claims this is not who he was picturing. Then, Damien turns it upside down to reveal it is a portrait of Alfred Hitchcock -- precisely the person this man pictured! We learn that it was Lucifer who tipped Damien off to this fact.
Logan makes love with Lucy, cheating on Damien. She wants to know who his mysterious boyfriend is, but Logan won't tell her as Damien leads a private life with secrecy -- which he feels may impact on his career negatively. Daniel meets with various LEGAL MINDS to discuss the roulette routine. They are all sceptical and want Damien to fake the stunt rather than really going through with it, but Daniel knows that's not an option. Eventually they decide to film the stunt live with a five second delay should anything go wrong. Logan comes into Damien's residence, where Damien waits for him and starts questioning him about his whereabouts the prior night of his performance. Logan lies that he went to see his ill mother, but Damien calls him out for lying. When Logan protests Damien's attitude, the cat Lucifer suddenly pounces and scratches him. Furious, Logan threatens to break things off with Damien. Terrified, Damien tells Logan he loves him, prompting the ire of Lucifer. But Logan leaves anyway, leaving Damien actually devastated.
Damien goes to see Matthew's live performance and is frustrated upon watching him levitate. Matthew then gives Anabelle a proper send off as the crowd cheers. Damien goes to drown his sorrows at a bar, where he happens to see Logan out cavorting with Lucy. He speaks to Lucifer, outraged at this betrayal. After a night of sex, Logan calls up Lucy to see if she can come see him, but she says her employer wouldn't let her. Daniel speaks with various network suits, who question him about the roulette. They try to block the idea, but Damien overrules them with his viewership clout. Anabelle talks with Lucy on the phone, whereupon Lucy tells her that she's now dating her old flame Logan. Anabelle takes this in stride, then tells Lucy that since there's an opening with Matthew, that it's time to consider a job shift "into the light."
In his magic lair, Damien is working with a masked female assistant practising card tricks. He tells her not to be late. FRED, head of the broadcasting regulatory body, calls up Daniel and chews him out over the roulette trick. Fred's trying to put his foot down, but Daniel out-maneuvers him and the trick remains on track. Jenkins calls Damien and tells him that he must start a promotional run in the lead up to the roulette act. News of the upcoming trick sweeps the nation and becomes a massive phenomenon. Damien goes on Marc Draymond's show to discuss it. Marc is snide and questions how Damien can claim to have a connection to a greater power. Their conversation grows tense, and Damien grows snippy when Marc plays a clip of his chess trick which gives away how he did it. Lucy calls Matthew to ask about interviewing for a position and he invites her to drop by his workshop.
Damien performs at a sold out show with his masked assistant. Afterwards, Logan comes into the backstage area to see Damien. Then and there, a shocking revelation unfurls: Damien's masked assistant is none other than Lucy! Logan is surprised, but goes ahead with begging Damien not to go through with the suicidal roulette trick, but Damien tells Logan he betrayed him and ignores his wishes. Lucy rushes after Logan, and, after an argument, he tells her he's going to go see Damien again the next day to inform him that they're serious about one another. Lucy informs Logan that Damien's dangerous and shows him scars alluding to physical abuse from her employer. She then alludes to a cryptic plant to take a chance -- "one in six?" Asks Logan, to which she replies: "no... one of two."
The roulette act is set for November 13th, only two days away. Then, Logan comes to see him and they launch into a heated back and forth exchange. Logan tells Damien he cheated on him, while Damien starts beating himself up. It's clear Logan is readying to leave for good, but Lucifer inhabits Damien and, abruptly, Damien grabs a letter opener and stabs Logan to death! With his dying words, Logan tells Damien "you're Satan." Damien then signs the contract for broadcasting roulette act in his blood. Damien calls up Jenkins to tell him that he's recorded a short video message which is to be viewed only in case anything goes wrong with the act. It's the night of the fateful roulette trick, and Damien is backstage lashing himself while channelling Lucifer as Lucy looks on. Lucy talks to Damien and grows suspicious that he's killed Logan. Then, unmoved, Damien asks Lucy to load the gun. Daniel tells Damien that it's not too late to back out, but it is for him. The "ON AIR" lights up and Damien takes to the stage, readying to perform the most extreme act of his career. Will Damien survive the wiles of chance and ascend to the next level of magic superstardom? Or will his sacrifice be all-encompassing, sending his soul down to burn alongside his master?
