Bickering cable TV sports producers, and lovers, are sent to rural Tennessee to compete in producing the network's first Outhouse Racing event, in order to see which one will get a promotion. As they each try to prove themselves worthy of the new job, a marijuana cloud engulfs the racing participants live on national television sending everything haywire, and the two realize they have to work together in order to save the show and their careers.
SYNOPSIS:
CHRIS and NANCY are producers at the All-American Sports Network and have been secretly dating for a couple months and are both up for the Executive Producer job. Chris is convinced he is going to get the job and doesn’t take it very well when the company owner, JACK MILLER, gives Nancy the position instead. In order to calm Chris down, Nancy assigns Chris to produce the first ever coverage of the John’s Jamboree, outhouse racing in Hootin’ Holler Tennessee.
In Hootin’ Holler, JUDY PEEMONT is preparing for the race at her old country store. The contestants are already arriving, such as the STINXS FAMILY, and the GAMMA GIRLS and GAMMA GUYS from the local university. Each team has their own unique outhouse.
Back at the Network, Jack hits on Nancy, who isn’t interested. Since Nancy won’t play Jack’s game, he sends her to Hootin’ Holler so he can see if Chris or Nancy does a better job producing the event.
Chris’s van driver, MARTIN, is from Hootin’ Holler and tells Chris about the town. We meet the mayor, MARK MANTON, and his secretary/mistress, MITZI, and SISTER PIETY and SISTER PENANCE of Holy Mother of God Church.
After Chris arrives at the Peemont Store and meets Judy and her daughters, LISA AND LIZA, he finds Nancy there. Nancy says she’s there to help produce the show. The reporter, KATE, shows up with her CAMERA MAN. Kate and Chris have hooked up in the past.
On a hill overlooking the store, the POTTER FAMILY is harvesting their marijuana crop.
Part of the Johns Jamboree fun is the Loose Ladies pageant, a beauty pageant for divorced women.
As backup for the show, Nancy gets DVDs of past Johns Jamborees to edit a special program. Judy tells Nancy about the prize for the winning team, the Golden Stick. It was Judy’s father’s shit stick dipped in gold. Judy’s father was a little person.
The mayor and his assistant arrive at the store with the Mayor’s wife, who has Tourette’s Syndrome
Max talks with Chris about Nancy and says he thinks Chris loves Nancy. Nancy talks with Judy and Judy says she thinks Nancy loves Chris. Both Chris and Nancy say they aren’t in love. Martin overhears Judy say she is lonely since her husband died. Martin and Judy hook up in the store.
Kate does interviews for the show. They get video of the Loose Ladies Pageant and talk with the mayor about the knob overlooking the holler where the event is taking place. Kate and the camera man go up on the knob.
In the holler, live coverage of the 15th Annual Johns Jamboree starts, Meanwhile, Kate meets the Potter family on the hill overlooking the event. After Kate and Mr. Potter sample the marijuana crop, a tractor fire accidentally catches the marijuana crop on fire and a cloud of smoke descends on the live coverage of the Johns Jamboree event.
Everyone is affected by the Marijuana fog. Chris hears Nancy confess to Judy that she loves him. Chris uses the special show Nancy edited together, since everyone is acting crazy and he can’t show them on TV.
Everyone recovers from their Contact High. Martin stays with Judy and Chris and Nancy realize they are perfect for each other.
