SYNOPSIS:
"TOP 55: 3 Minute Script Competition placement in the UK Film Festival Script Competitions 2021"
I have decided to include the story below in its entirety (minus the intricate details) as the script is only 3 pages long. If you want to get involved with the project, please see the sections underneath the synopsis to see if you can help.
This three-page British set script is a concise yet emotional and light story about a young boy seeking to brighten his Grandad’s mood before an operation. Zac (7) is off school and visiting his Grandad (Mike) pre-operation with his Father. Zac is alone with Mike and feels out of place in this small ward filled with assorted elderly people in varying degrees of health and sickness. With three minutes to go until Mike will be wheeled off to the surgery room, the pair sit in awkward silence. Zac twists the end of the bedsheets while looking at Mike’s anxious face. Zac decides he needs to do something to help brighten the mood. Zac leaves the bed and stretches high on his tiptoes to reading the box of blue medical latex gloves. He walks back to his grandad and blows into the glove, inflating it like a balloon. With the help of a black marker and a few knots, the glove becomes an octopus named 'Arty The Octopus'. Zac gifts the balloon to Mike who thanks him dearly and holds the octopus tight to his chest as he is wheeled off for an operation.
