A scientist is supposed to warn people about an oncoming earthquake, but he is going to use the disaster for his experiments. The only person who can stop him is a 15-year-old girl, with a gift of communicating with forces of the Earth.

SYNOPSIS:

The nearest future. People put so many barriers against negative environmental influences that they feel themselves like the aliens on the Earth. They dwell in stand-alone highly-protected houses, in towns, equipped with artificial climate systems and walk outdoor only in safe helmets.

VERA (15) lives alone in a flying-saucer-like house with a garden. Her parents are so busy that communicate with her only online. She has 250 friends, but they all are virtual. There are lots of friends in the garden, but they are plants and trees. One day she finds a speaking flower with flame-like petals. She shares the news with her father, an archaeologist, who leads excavations on the distant Southern island, and her mother, a botanist. Thanks to the news, the mother visits her daughter.

However there is one more person living on the Southern island, who knows about the secret flower – VATUP, the senior gardener of a local resort and an ex-sacrificer of the Earth the goddess. In the past he sacrificed a whole town to her, although the Earth just had asked him to save its inhabitants. By the force of this sacrifice, using the fiery flower, he extends his life up to 700 years, but loses his heart. He knows neither joy nor sorrow. But even his long life goes to the end. He needs a renewal, a new sacrifice... Vatup steals the fiery flower from Vera’s garden. The girl and her mother are sad, but the father tells them about frescoes with pictures of such flowers in the ancient temple of the Earth the goddess. Vera and her mother fly to the island.

Vatup does his best to get rid of the persecutors, using both his sorcery and his influence on the Island Governor. Difficulties make Vera’s family close. Moreover, the girl turns out to be not an ordinary guest on the island. The Mother Earth herself waits for her here. She chooses Vera as her new herald to the people to warn them about an upcoming earthquake.

Vatup also knows about the approaching catastrophe. He prepares the fiery flower for the new sacrifice, but he wants to get his heart back to enjoy his long life. The Earth makes conditions – rescuing the town and helping Vera. Vatup chooses longevity, not the heart. He kidnaps Vera, but the girl is not alone anymore – she calls all her virtual friends. The friends become real and rescue her. They together help to evacuate the town inhabitants and survive the earthquake.
