I have been writing for about 5 years, only recently finished my first script. I haven't won any awards or had my script made. I am looking to take the next step, and trying to make the connections to make that happen. I would be grateful if I can get some tips.

Hey Colin, thank you. Happy I could help a little. Simon, completely agree, but we don't know on which level his script is right now. Hence, contacting directors/producers might be too early.

Agreed Elisabeth, I wouldn't contact anyone until my script is just so, but there's no harm in friending producers etc as a base for further contact when ready.
Thank you all for the good ideas. I forgot to mentions I have been through a couple of script editors. I am happy with were it is at.

One more Aaron, make sure at least 2 people proof read it before letting anyone else see it. Don't trust MS squiggles for correct spelling or grammar.

Just thought of something - Final Draft does not work properly with Win10 so beware of upgrading, I did and had to downgrade to Win8. Contacted FD they said it's a bug they can't fix as of yet.
