SYNOPSIS:

Allie Whitman is a professional whistleblower and president of Devil to Pay. She sues many different companies that defraud the government. Her identity is known only to her lawyer and a few others. Disguised as an accounting temp, Allie goes undercover and digs through corporate files and talks to employees to find evidence of overbilling government and hence, cheating taxpayers. She takes photos with a contact lens camera and downloads files with a wireless device. Allie gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars when the government wins their cases against the corrupt companies. She views herself as a public servant while her enemies see her as a money-grubbing thorn in the side. Because of her job’s secrecy, Allie and her lawyer, Connor Norman, cannot be seen together in public. When they win a case, they celebrate in different restaurants and communicate via phone. Connor trusts Allie implicitly. So when he finds out Allie plants false evidence for a case because she is being blackmailed, he’s devastated and forced to withdraw from representing her anymore. Allie loses a friend and ally in her quest to find the truth about a mysterious company called Deep Seven. Deep Seven Maritime Engineering owns salvage ships. One of their ships is rented out to a South Korean company looking for Nazi gold in a sunken German u-boat. But they turn out to be North Koreans looking for nuclear warheads in a sunken Russian submarine. Allie must now use her corporate espionage skills to thwart a plot to explode these warheads in her home country, to save many lives and prevent a war. When the salvage ship reaches port, Allie prevents the warheads from being transported off the dock. Connor decides to trust Allie again and helps her fight against the North Koreans flying his restored WWII fighter plane over the dock and shooting real bullets. When it’s over, Allie and Connor learn that trust goes both ways and they celebrate their victory together in the same restaurant at the same time.
