The world's most desperate social outcast accidentally links into an intergalactic communications network.

SYNOPSIS:

Left to his own devices, life looks pretty good to SYLVESTER KARG. He's living the brainiac bachelor's dream: working as a developmental engineer at NASA's famous JPL lab. Assigned to the Mars Mission, Sylvester is responsible for setting up the supply space flights to support the astronauts headed to a new world.

His only problem is: his family doesn't agree his life is all that good. When his sister runs afoul of their mother at a monthly dinner, she doesn't hesitate to throw Sylvester under the bus, citing his complete lack of social interaction. Reluctantly, Sylvester agrees to let his sister find him a date.

Taking a break during a long weekend in the Mars simulation lab, he finds thousands of queries on the internet dating page his sister set up... all because he included astronaut GLENN COOPER as his friend. He exhausts himself and wastes the rest of the weekend screening the list, accidentally tying his page into a JPL satellite uplink. By the time he discovers his mistake, only one cryptic message remains.

After a real date set up by his sister goes horribly wrong, Sylvester returns to the Internet site and the strange message. He finds himself communicating via satellite with someone who can help him solve his Mars Mission problems. Unfortunately, this comes to the attention of the program's by-the-book military attach‚s. They believe Sylvester has breached protocol and security and may even be involved in espionage.

Sylvester is suspended from JPL without completing his mission problem or finding out who he was actually talking to. An encounter with TINA, a rogue ride-sharing driver, convinces him to return to JPL to take one more crack at both.

He enlists Coop's reluctant help to sneak back into the simulation lab. Their intrusion sets off alarms and it doesn't take long before they're on the run, desperate to evade arrest while trying to hook up with Sylvester's mysterious contact.

Dawn breaks over the designated rendezvous point as Sylvester, his pursuers and family alike converge. Instead of finding spies sent to steal space program intel, an interstellar transport materializes. The loveliest humaniod in the galaxy emerges. She beckons to Sylvester, imploring him to join her. He willingly accepts her invitation. His stunned companions watch in wonder as he leaves to begin his alien date with destiny.
