FINDING SIMON
By Jason Seelmann

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

sometimes a search for answers, only finds more questions

SYNOPSIS:

The story centres around mental health and how one’s illness can impact the lives around them.

The series outline on the following page is fully scripted for the first season. Comprising of 6 episodes of approximately 8 minutes in length. This is the original format with target of releasing on a digital platform.

Season one at a glance - After turning 30, Simon realizes that he has accomplished nothing and sets out to find answers to his meaning for life, including connecting with a father he’s never met.

The series - Each consecutive season would run a few months apart, with Simon becoming evermore aware of his health as he navigates the maze on the road to wellness. Along the way, we meet and get to know the people in his life and how his ups and downs affects them. We see many sides of the process; from diagnosis to medication trials, and therapy sessions of one-on-one and group.

Comps - HBO’s In Treatment, but with the focus more on life outside the therapist’s office. Instead of the patient talking about their day, we live it with them.

Why this story - The series is very personal to me. Echoing my battle with mental illness and where I have come since my diagnosis. I feel there could be a lot of opportunity to team up with wellness centres across the country to help those in need.
