THE HUG CLUB
By Ashana Bigard

GENRE: Thriller
LOGLINE: What if you could keep any future serial killers from becoming serial killers by putting them away forever? What if it was your own child?

SYNOPSIS:

What was started in the 20s, 30s, went into the 50s. A secret club for rich parents whose children were out of control. Where they did horrible and unforgivable things to children who were just going through well old-fashioned teenage rebellion. They created and put them in a psychiatric institution for life, and in some cases, even lobotomies in extreme situations, and others even paid for the assassinations of their children. You would think that a club like this could not be rehab, or still exists. But it does still exist, but not for the common variety of children turned murderous sociopath, even if they are well on their way. …Let’s just say you have to meet a lot of “criteria” before you can get into this club. Your child and family have to go through an extreme evaluation and then and only then… Your child will disappear and show up in a prison much like Guantanamo Bay they will likely “spend the night” for the rest of their natural-born life. Now before you judge these parents, family members, or caretakers members too harshly, call them monsters, say that this is completely unthinkable. What if Hitler’s mother and father had a place like this for their teenage son with homicidal tendencies… If you have the money and the power, why not use it for the greater good? BUT What would a young person have to do? What would a family have to go through before this is the only option? Well, these are the stories of the unthinkable…welcome to the Hug Club.

Feels like a feature with the potential to be a series. Not sure about the construct. That would/should be key. Right now, knowing almost nothing, I would say use stand alone episodes. The logline is (still) weak, but the hook is very strong. The synopsis is not a screenplay's synopsis, . It's more like a powerful 1 minute pitch.
