JUST ANOTHER THROWAWAY
By Kathleen Hof

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

When a powerless underage teen runs away from her abusive foster home to live a safer life on the streets, she battles to escape the charismatic human trafficker in her homeless camp before her only chance of leaving will be in a coffin.

SYNOPSIS:

The script details Rosie, age 15, being torn from her troubled biological parents, sent to a foster home and adopted against her will.

Through Rosie, the story shows what happens to a runaway youth once on the streets which is more difficult than a homeless adult. A minor is ineligible for services plus they are on the run. And, if found, they will be returned to the abusive home. So, they hide and will do anything to survive while traffickers prey on their desperation.

From the beginning, Rosie fights to change life for herself and the other minors in her homeless camp. But, she's one child against a vast system. So, time after time, despite her strong effort, she fails. Finally, after an arrest for car jacking (which she was forced to do by the traffickers), she figures out a way to enact change for the runaway children on the streets.

Just one thing: I'd phrase it as "powerless teen" or "disadvantaged adolescent". "Powerless underage teen" seems a little redundant. Hope this helps!
