After his uncle is shot by a rival gang member, a conflicted Black teenager must choose between avenging his family’s honor through violence or breaking free from the generational curse of gang life that has plagued the men in his family.
SYNOPSIS:
The story follows Kamali, a Black teenager navigating life in a gang-influenced neighborhood. After his Uncle Darius is shot multiple times by rival gang member Adrian, Kamali becomes entangled in a cycle of violence while trying to protect his family. Despite having a promising future and a budding romance with his girlfriend Denali, Kamali chooses revenge and successfully kills Adrian at a parade. When Darius learns of Kamali's actions before dying in the hospital, he's devastated as he never wanted this life for his nephew. The violence escalates as Adrian's younger brother Davion (who has previous beef with Kamali) seeks revenge. The story culminates in a violent street confrontation where Kamali shoots Davion but is ultimately surrounded by police with guns drawn as his mother and girlfriend watch helplessly. The screenplay explores themes of generational trauma, gang violence, family loyalty, and the difficult choices young Black men face in America.
