INVASIVE SPECIES

When an archeologist is faced with the fact that aliens are real, and that she has given birth to a hybrid alien child, she must shatter her long-held beliefs, face childhood trauma, and work with friends of disparate beliefs to stop an alien invasion.

SYNOPSIS:

In July of 2020, The New York Times printed a blockbuster article, No Longer in Shadows, Pentagon’s U.F.O. Unit Will Make Some Findings Public. 60 Minutes followed up with an episode revealing video footage taken by Navy pilots of unidentified aerial phenomena. People were converted from skeptics to if not believers, being more open to the idea that we were not alone in the universe. Archeologist Andrea Reznik doesn’t believe in aliens. It’s a point of contention with her sister Renee and friend January, both of which hold dear ideas that Andrea can’t wrap her scientific mind around. For our skeptical audience members, she is their way into the story. Meanwhile, the story while fiction uses the facts presented in the alien culture of the television shows mentioned above to attract the audience who believes that our world is being visited by aliens. Andrea is so rigid in her belief systems, that she can’t even consider that the reptilian skeleton she literally falls upon is proof that aliens visiting earth. She won’t listen to January when she warns of an imminent invasion. It isn’t until the military closes her site that she begins to understand the cost of her denial. Invasive Species explores the themes of being forced to face a traumatic past, being forced to have a child, and being forced to embrace the beliefs she disparages as being pure fantasy. Andrea leaves behind everything she loves and believes in, to follow thousand-year-old clues that lead her to ancient technology that will prevent the imminent alien invasion.
