Namafu Amutse is a multidisciplinary artist who explores artforms filmmaking, photography, directing and writing and works as a freelance photographer and creative director. Her work is mainly fuelled by Southern African tradition, feminism, and Africanfuturism and her focus is on centering black perspectives. She is currently studying towards a Bachelors of Education Honours in English and German at the University of Namibia and recently completed a film exchange programme at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany, with a focus on fiction directing. Amutse wrote and directed her first short film Mukumo in September of 2019 fully funded by the Goethe Institute of Namibia and produced by Senga Brockerhoff of Pegasus Entertainment Productions. She directed her first music video Melanin Mantra by Sage Smoke in December 2019, followed by Feelings by Namibian rapper Lioness featuring Waters and shortly thereafter Multiplier by Ndeshi Way featuring G3mini in January 2021. In July 2021, Amutse worked as an assistant director on the set of Valara, a horror anthology film directed by Florian Schott and in August 2021, she worked as a DOP for a documentary film Fishbowl directed by Hendrik Ströhle.
