Synopsis
Lucius is a young, panhandler going to Art School in Los Angeles and smoking a lot of pot. His luck changes dramatically one day on a freeway off-ramp when a rich, high-powered attorney, late for a meeting, offers him a thousand dollars just to sit in the passenger seat so he can use the fast lane to make his meeting on time.
That one ride changes Lucius life forever because with the thousand dollars Lucius buys a foreclosed house at an auction on the front steps of city hall. The implications of the address, 420 Friendly Street, were not lost on Lucius or any of his young friends.
Lucius ends up with a pad by total accident. He and his pal Soul-o live in the house and since Lucius is an artist and they live at this well-known address and symbol for pot smoking – they begin a line of 420 Friendly Street paraphernalia.
The road to success is not always paved in gold and there were other buyers for the auctioned home. Mr. Tarkenton – a vile city official wanted the property to use as a safe house for homeless teens but that was really just a political move to preserve his power in the political community. Now he is after Lucius.
Lucius also falls in love with an escort who attended one of the huge, early parties at 420 Friendly St. and Lucius only finds out later she is an escort when her boss, Mr. Vegas, comes to him and claims Lucius owes him a million dollars for the loss of his employee. To make matters worse, a man named Dr. Landon shows up and claims he is a Doctor Without Borders who had to leave in an emergency and the house is really his, still.
420 Friendly St., begins with parties and ends with parties but the last party before the change is so huge and people get so messed up that Mr. Vegas comes calling in the early morning with moving vans and clears the entire house out of everything that could be taken except for the drunken bodies on the floor who don’t care.
In the end Lucius loses everything, several love affairs are resolved including Lucius getting Leanne, Tarkenton loses the house for good but gains a foothold into the power of drug sales and an ensemble of young men and women get to see life from a fresh, drug filled experience at the most incredible address ever, 420 Friendly St., West Hollywood, CA 90069.
