SYNOPSIS:

THERE’S ALWAYS A HITCH

Wild meets Bridget Jones who cooks with Julie & Julia.

There’s Always a Hitch is inspired by a true story of Sophie’s and her mum, Bella’s, adventures, sixty-one years apart.

Sophie, British, is fed up, broke, single, living in Vienna, and failing at her life coaching business. She decides to abandon expat life, re-trace her late mum’s foot steps with only a few dollars, using her mum’s diaries and memorabilia to guide her. Sophie never imagined how much her travels would intertwine with her mums and that her mum is a travel companion.

Throughout her journey, Sophie battles with her lack of money, overweight luggage, self-doubt, and a string of disasters. She has to dig deep and not only falls in love but writes the book and fulfils her ancestral legacy of following your heart and never giving up.

1958, Bella, 19, says goodbye to her mundane life and a plethora of expectations to embark on an adventure across the world. She ends up in the mountains of Canada working as a chambermaid, where she meets two intrepid explorers and when the season ends, they set off backpacking and hitchhiking to Mexico.

On the journey, Bella struggles with her father’s disapproval and must ignore the feelings of guilt to continue her escapade, but with so much fun and the pull of the male attention, she and her friends keep going.
