JOB HOPPERS
By Jonathan Fox

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

Upon graduating high school with no career aspirations and being cut off from their parents’ support, four misfits take on various jobs through a temp agency with success always out of reach.

SYNOPSIS:

"Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life!" says the optimistic and well-intentioned high school guidance councilor to each clueless senior with no idea what to do after graduation. The advice sounds simple enough, but what if all a guy loves is sleeping in and hitting on girls? There can't be too many legal applications for those hobbies. Or what about a girl who's only love is reading fashion blogs and watching YouTube, and her only career aspiration is to marry a rich guy?

Without specific direction, most people choose to major in their favorite subject in college, or pick a career with the best earning potential, and just hope for the best. But what happens to the guys and girls who have no aspirations for higher education and sit on the very bottom of the totem pole of cluelessness? They visit a temp agency.

The series will center around the lives of four 18-year-old recent high school graduates, two men and two women, who each have their own reasons why they didn't pursue college or have any idea what career path to choose. The two men are friends and go to the agency together, intending to work alongside each other. The two women are not friends, but meet up at the agency by fate, and work together on each assignment. The majority of the situations and gags will take place on the job, but the series will also feature glimpses into their home and personal lives.

The temp agency, called Temp You! Inc. is run by a very dedicated and passionate agent, Rita, who becomes a mentor for her four new clients. She goes strictly by the book, and uses the terrible pun in various ways throughout the series, such as in a greeting: "Temp you very much for coming in!" She does all she can to help the four pathetic star characters find jobs that fit, but her clients are completely inept and fail at each job. Each will experience a wide variety of jobs, from common to crazy, and will be fired from each in different comical ways.

The first season will take the audience through the characters' growing pains as they learn how to work low skill level jobs, deal with a boss and coworkers, and hop from job to job. Each character will struggle in their own ways, not only with the jobs themselves, but with their own psychological issues as they learn how tough it is to exist in a post-high school world. The four will meet each other hanging out at a local burger place and recognize each other from school. The two pairs quickly realize that they are among the few students in their graduating class not to go to college, and lie to impress each other, exaggerating the jobs they have been doing. They become friends, growing more interested and attracted to each other, and hang out at night after work. The season ends with the four characters discovering the big lie, as they end up on the same job site.
