Paul Trusik Pitch Session

I would like to hear from anyone who bought a pitch session for the August 26 Paul Trusik date. I submitted a written pitch. It has been seven weeks and I have not gotten my review from Mr. Trusik. I have emailed Happy Writers about this twice and received no response either time.

Has anyone gotten a...

Good Places to Get Crew for No-Budget Short?

Hi, it's been suggested to me that making a short film would be useful in order to get funding for my feature film scripts. I have a short script ready, can you suggest any particularly good places to get crew who would be willing to work without a budget?

Also suggestions of vendors who might provid...

Dan is being extreme. Lauran, for people trying to build up their resume, they might agree to working for credit only. That's how I got my first IMDb credit as a writer.

Always pay for food. Always. Even bad pizza is at least a gesture.

I've had great success using film school students. They generally work hard, they're enthusiastic and they want to make a good film as badly as you do.

D Marcus

Paul, what film school do you recruit from?

Best Screenwriting Software

Hello Fellow Screenwriters! What do you think is the best screenwriting software? Thanks for your feedback.

John Iannucci

The best one is the one you like best and gets you too sit down and be productive. Nothing else matters - we either send PDFs or hard copies most of the time - so it doesn’t matter if it’s FD or fade...

I use Final Draft. I use to have issues with older versions of FD like 6 & 7, but since 9 came out it has been perfect. I write everything on that except for novels. TV Shows, Movies, and my comic book scripts are all on FD. I also really like their notecard outline feature.

Pete Whiting

I use writerduet. Is it the best? who knows? But its not the software that gets you a deal! As long you find it user friendly and has the features you like then write.

I suggest you use writer duet.

Courier new Vs. Courier Final Draft

Hi there, I have a conundrum on my hands. As I understand it, and please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, The font "Courier New" size 12 is the industry standart. One page - one minute... However in Final Draft 8 I've noticed that the same script in "Courier Final Draft" size 12 is a lot shorte...

Hi Lina, I don't write scripts, I read scripts, so it's rather important for me to know the correct length.

Frank A Rybicki

Courier Final Draft is the standard for film scripts. Courier New gives a false page count.

Lina Jones

Ok don't get your ego in a tizzy... Hey in college if your writing a APA, MLA they all had specifics for a reason that's all I'm saying. As someone you is obviously used to reading scripts I'm sure yo...

Personally, I've been using Courier Final Draft. I find it's far easier on the eyes. Maybe it's just me. haha

Can Women Succeed as Screenwriters?

I read once at WGA, that mostly young men succeed as screenwriters. Why is that? Is it because they are the highest movie-going audiences? I am a woman and a senior, too -- am I wasting my time writing screenplays?

Naomi Lisner

I hope more female screenwriters succeed as there seems to be a problem with many films with the imbalance of strong female roles. I believe your gender should not matter and the quality of your work should speak for itself. Best of luck.

Rachel Reaugh

You're not wasting your time as long as you are loving what you are doing. Just keep shining with your writing.

Julian Nabunya

@ Mrs Davis , yes they can because you will and i will dearest , get that fear off your mind and push it up , sucess does not require genda , its matter of determination and commitement , what so ever you chose in life is what you will always be .

Maxine Anderson

It does look like young male screenwriters succeed more and it's due to the high rollers who control Hollywood. Since more of them are men, young men are given more preference. Of course, that's not f...

I have used both moo and vista print. I am very happy with both of these sites. Moo is a UK based business so it does take a little longer to get those if you live in the states

Brian Stupski

If interested, I have a discount code (10% off) for moo.com : http://www.moo.com/share/tc86k6

Melody Brooke

Search "Cheap business cards" and psprint has them for less than $25 for 1000 but only through the search link... full color, double sided!

MJ Brewer

http://www.vistaprint.com has 500 cards for $9.99, but I would suggest making your own. With the right program (I use Corel) you can do some amazing things, even double-sided. It takes time to set it...
