I must say 2013 was a good year for me. Worked on a movie set, was a PA for a major TV production in town and a local government production in town. Looking forward to another movie production coming to town. So who knows what 2014 will bring. Being a PA, there is always surprises!
Nice to meet you !!

Great blog article! Although, I've worked on movie sets as an extra before, I never really knew all that being a Grip entailed! Thanks for the enlightenment! :)

Working in the production department at the local Public Broadcasting station and working on location off and on the past few years. Some people don't realize it is the grip who helps to bring things together on the set. It can be hard work but at the end worth it all! Mike Koskie
Thank you Mike, glad to hear someone back me up. What PBS have you worked for?

Have worked freelance since then. I have been attending a local production meeting once a month here in Jackson . There is a production company that meets with us called Red Planet Productions. It's an informative meeting. They let us know what production is going to be filmed in the state. But...it's the Miss. Film Commision that heads the meeting. Mike Koskie

I used to be with Mississippi Public Broadcasting in the production department until politics took over my position. I have been a freelance production assistant since then and have worked on a few movie sets such as.."Due Date". I was only there for a week with them. But I am proud of that and other such work. I am an artist by trade. Am also a scenic artist. Was called to be a scenic artists for the History channel when they were in town.( Full Metal Jousting) but my full time night job got in the way at the time. Not working full time now. Just freelancing. I exhibit my paintings at a local gallery...."Southern Breeze Gallery". Well...that's about all I have to say for myself. Let's all keep in touch!! Mike Koskie.
