My Director's Showreel Short Film 2022

In 2022, I was entrusted with being the director of the two short films that had been produced. The first short film is entitled Kencan Pertama (First Date) and the second short film is entitled Amerta.

“Tengu Gaiden” shortfilm - 2007

Tengus are one of Japan's most beloved mythical creatures. They are red, have big noses, can run and jump faster than anyone. They wear wooden sandals with only one tooth, carry a large fan made of feathers, and like to live alone in the mountains. But where did they come from? Tengu Gaiden attempts to break the mystery. In the near future the sea levels have rose. A young girl wanders into the ruins of an old temple where she meets a strange Old Monk (Mickey Curtis). As they watch the sun go down on the submerged city of Kyoto, the Old Monk tells her a story: Louis (Jai West), a fugitive from the Crusades, is shipwrecked on the shores of Heian period Japan. On the edge of death, Louis is saved by a mysterious lady - Amaya (Chiaki Kuriyama), and falls in love with her. He makes a promise to her which he keeps for three years until one day his faith is tested...

Go Indie Now turns its festival spotlight onto another selection from this year's Slamdance 2023. This is Episode 6 as Joe Compton sat down to talk with filmmaker Camille Wormser to discuss the Just Right short film. Just Right is a peek inside the whimsical and absurd mind of Mel, a woman with severe OCD who just wants to do something new with her day. Joe talks to Camille about how she has handled having OCD and channeling that into her creative process, the advice she has for others who might be looking to do the same, and the big question of does she own the chicken costume from the movie.

SEASON 1 FINALE of Spotlight is up!!! It's been a great season and we finish strong with an inside look at not just how a film festival like ConCarolinas Short Film Festival, a 10-year tradition at ConCarolinas, operates year to year but especially in this strange year. How it audibled and was able to still pull off a very successful, some might say the most successful film festival to date. Joe Compton sat down with the organizers and programmers that made it happen Bill Mulligan & Jason Gilbert. A lot of great tips for filmmakers and insights here.
