Your Success is Our Success! Thanks for Sharing Your Inspiring Stories!

Good morning Stage 32 Family! I hope you have all had a wonderful pre-Thanksgiving weekend. We’re heading into the last week of November and one that largely kicks off the holiday season for many of us. During this time, it is important to stay focused on our screenwriting and filmmaking goals. I want to remind everyone who is participating in our November Write Club Challenge that this is the last week to knock out your writing goal for the month of November.

For those who have yet to participate or set a goal, I still challenge you to use this last week to set a mini-goal for yourself. It can be as simple as setting a goal to write for one hour every day this week. Sound off on the Write Club Blog and Social Media and let us know if you are tackling a mini-goal.

The holidays are a time to be with family and friends, reflecting on all with which we are blessed. As we do that, I want to highlight a few of our community members who are having positive experiences through Stage 32 and thank them for reaching out to me with their stories.

Last week, I received a lovely note from screenwriter, Heather Magee who told me, “I have to say, pitch sessions have been a game changer for me. I've received such helpful feedback and some really creative ideas around how to strengthen my stories, some of which I've applied. To have my material sitting with multiple managers at the moment (all but one due to pitching via Stage 32) feels like a huge leap forward. The imminent value I've experienced with Stage 32 is beginning to overshadow all the other platforms and networks I've subscribed to.”

That is really encouraging to hear, Heather! I believe the pitch sessions are an essential step in a writer’s process to hone their skills and prepare their script for the market. And to have your projects sitting with managers largely as a result of Stage 32 is wonderful.

Earlier, I received another note from screenwriter Bob Canning who said, “Overall, I found Stage 32’s coverage far better than some other services I have used in the past, where I felt almost assaulted. Please thank him of her for a well-done job. It was my first try with Stage 32 but it will not be my last.”

I am sorry to hear that other services have left you feeling assaulted, Bob, but I am so pleased that you have found our supportive roster of industry readers and executives. The Stage 32 Script Services team has worked hard over the last several months to bring in executives from companies including MGM, Verve, di Bonaventura, Amazon, and Sony Pictures Television, among others, to provide constructive feedback in a positive manner. I am glad to know that you have found your champions at Stage 32.

And finally, one of my favorite notes came from screenwriter and poet, Wimana “Imo” Chadband from Trinidad and Tobago, who is a member of the Stage 32 Writers’ Room. Imo wrote to me and said, “The Writers’ Room, I must say, is a must have for any creative. It's fun, motivational, interactive, educational, and you’re learning live from professionals and executives within the industry, no matter your location. It is the perfect medium to grow both your craft, and knowledge of the business.”

I really appreciate Imo’s feedback because, as the host of the Writers’ Room, I have worked hard to create educational and inspiring webcasts that our members can utilize as they develop in their screenwriting and filmmaking careers. In fact, just this week, I received another note from Writers’ Room member Ryan Haneman after he watched my live interview with Netflix director, Mike Disa. Ryan wrote, “That was amazing, and refreshing...wow, Mike told it like it was and it was one of the more informative lectures/talks/workshops I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of.”

Again, these sentiments from Ryan and Imo mean so much to me and I look forward to our shared experiences in the Writer’s Room!

Thanks to all of the community members who reach out to me on a daily basis with their feedback, questions, comments, concerns, hopes, dreams, and fears. You are the reason I am here and I am grateful to be a part of your journey. Please feel free to reach out to me in the comments section below or directly at j.mirch@stage32.com
