Happy Sunday Creative Army!
I hope you are having a great Memorial Day Weekend so far. This fine Sunday morning, I invite you to take in some film content while you sip your daily dark roast. Let's dive in, shall we?
First up, let's talk about plot twists. Ever since Darth Vadar told Luke "I am your Father", filmmakers and screenwriters have been entranced with the art of perfecting the plot twist. In this first video, The Closer Look uses Rian Johnson's Knives Out to illustrate how to masterfully pull off a plot twist. This video covers everything overcoming (or using to your advantage) certain cliches of a "whodunnit" to how to craft your plot twist in an authentic way that actually serves your story.
Next up, Film Riot has put together a great video illustrating five easy visual effects tricks. If you have been meaning to learn After Effects software, there really is no better time than now. This video teaches you how to remove objects from your shot, add crazy eye effects to your actors, replace images on tv's/phones within your shot, and more.
