RB's Stage 32 News, Notes, Discussions, and Other Fun Stuff (July 4th, 2014)

Posted by Richard "RB" Botto

To all our American Stage 32'ers, a very happy, healthy, and safe 4th of July weekend.  To the rest of the Stage 32 community, a very creative weekend to you all.

Much to cover this week.  Let's get to it...

Sad news this week as Louis Zamperini, the subject of the remarkable book, Unbroken, passed away at 97.  The Angelina directed film of Zamperini's life will be released on Christmas Day.  Zamperini was a hero and an inspiration.  May he rest in peace.

Also covered below under Entertainment News, the terrific director, Paul Mazursky, has also left us.  He leaves behind a wonderful body of work both behind and in front of the camera; the filmmakers of Midnight Rider have been charged with involunatry manslaughter; the Weinsteins look to spin off their TV division; new health care rules for members of SAG & AFTRA; Aereo continues to fight on; YouTubers have a dilemma; summer box office continues to slump; classic movie theaters in America are fading away (great photos); Community gets yet another lease on life; California finally awards some tax credits; and Seinfeld turns 25!  Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I also have a slew of Stage 32 Success Stories - Big congratulations to all! - along with dozens of spectacular Lounge discussions and all the proposed and planned Stage 32 Meetups across the globe.

Plus, some great videos including audition tapes from your favorite stars.  And finally, under TIPS, composing, filmmaking, screenwriting and casting pointers.

Feel free to discuss any and all in the Comments section below!

Enjoy!
