This couldn't be a more exciting week! We're in the thick of Sundance and it's been great to see all the deals being made on films that have been made by Stage 32 members and executives. Plus, to round out the week, we're going to be announcing our Stage 32 Feature Screenwriting Contest winners!

Waking up this morning we received some really great news that two filmmakers, Sev O'hanion and Natalie Qasaban, were in an epic all night negotiation. They sold the worldwide rights to the film that Sev wrote & both he and Natalie produced, SEARCH, to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisition for $5MM! When we first saw the trailer back in 2016 we knew this was going to be received with praise, as the concept was unique - the entire film takes place on a computer screen and stars John Cho & Debra Messing. The reaction did not disappoint! Stage 32ers, this is one to watch out for. And, to add to the best week ever, Sev was also awarded the Sundance Institute / Amazon Studios Producers Award.

Producers Sev O'Hanion and Natalie Qasabian

Sev has been inspirational in the Stage 32 community, serving as a Judge for our 2017 Stage 32 Feature Contest. His fellow judge, Alysia Reiner (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK), also had luck at Sundance in 2016 when she sold her film EQUITY to Sony Pictures Classic (read more about that here). Natalie has also inspired many filmmakers through giving feedback during Stage 32 pitch sessions - we're looking forward to her film ALL ABOUT NINA coming out soon.

Later this week we're going to be announcing the winners of our 3rd Annual Feature Screenwriting Contest. We're proud to have such talent in the Stage 32 orbit, so please take a minute to congratulate Sev, Natalie and their crew (especially their insanely talented Editor Nick Johnson and Will Merrick) in the comments section!
