Coffee & Content - Behind the Writing of FIGHT CLUB & Accent Expert Breaks Down Actors Playing Real People

Posted by Richard "RB" Botto

Happy Sunday Creative Army.

Here's hoping you had a happy, healthy, and creative week! I hope you've got your coffee ready because this week's serving of content is coming in hot.

First up, Wired sits down with dialect coach Erik Singer to break down 17 actors playing real people. This video dives into different aspects of accents and performance from speaking while wearing mouth and/or face prosthetics, to how using different parts of the tongue affect your ability to make an "s" sound just like Freddy Mercury. You will see break downs of Christina Bale's Dick Cheney in Vice, Rami Malek's Freddy Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Claire Foy's Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Edward Snowden in Snowden, Felicity Jones' Ruth Bader Ginsberg in On the Basis of Sex, and more.

Next up, Behind the Curtain has put together a video about what went into writing the novel Fight Club, and its journey to becoming one of the most famous cult classics of all time. This video combines interviews from the author of the book, Chuck Palahniuk, as well as from the film's screenwriter Jim Uhls. If you are a big fan of Jim's and looking for even more tips this fine Sunday, check out our on-demand webinar Masters of Craft: The Screenwriter's Process with FIGHT CLUB writer Jim Uhls
