Happy Sunday, Creative Army!
Have you had a creative weekend so far? I have some content here for you that is sure to get the creative juices flowing, so grab your coffee, and let's dive in.
First up, the director of SHAZAM! and its recently released sequel, David F. Sandberg digs into one of the biggest challenges every filmmaker faces: communicating their vision. You might see what you want on screen clear as day in your mind, but if you can't clearly communicate it to your actors and crew, it's very likely you're not going to achieve your desired outcome. Sandberg does a fantastic job on this topic, using his own work on the DC franchise as an example throughout. And if this topic interests you, you should definitely check out this course from Stage 32 and director Bobby Roth.
Next up, I've been seeing a lot of great concepts for thrillers and stories with big plot twists coming through Stage 32. They're some of the most fun stories to read. But the challenge that comes with these kinds of stories is nailing that plot twist, which will often make or break the story. In this video from FilmCourage, acclaimed thriller scribe Andrew Warren walks you through how to achieve a great plot twist and the most common "mistakes" that up-and-coming writers make when writing them.
