Happy Sunday, Creative Army!

Have you had a creative weekend so far? I have some content here for you that is sure to get the creative juices flowing, so grab your coffee, and let's dive in.

First up, in this video essay from Just an Observation, he’s analyzing one of the best antagonist characters in cinema, Kathy Bates' Oscar-winning performance as Annie Wilkes in Misery. As he points out, Kathy Bates delivers an unhinged performance filled with contrasting parts of Annie Wilkes' personality in Misery by using her eye contact and lack of eye contact, coupled with her changing vocal delivery to bring Annie’s specific child-like quirks to life. At her core, Annie is a character driven by an obsessive compulsion to be loved instead of rejected. She sees herself as the ultimate caregiver and desires to be cared for in return, the way that she feels she deserves. It’s an incredible performance and character study whether you’re an actor, director, or writer.

A lot of film and TV creatives have a hard time dealing with rejection. It’s never easy, but it CAN get easier. It’s all about how we frame the rejection and how we take action. Reframing rejection and turning every “No” into a learning experience. Learn more in this video!

I’d like to know, how do you deal with rejection? What advice have you received along the way to see you through? Drop your insights and advice in the comments below!
