Stage 32 Launches Global Screenwriting Contest Hub: Oscar and BAFTA Qualifying Contests Participating!

There are moments in this business when everything changes.

Today is one of those moments.

With the recent announcement that Coverfly is shutting down on August 1st, and after their prior closure of Industry Arts platforms, we knew thousands of screenwriters around the world were going to be left without a clear path to discover contests, get professional feedback, and get discovered.

So we stepped up.

As announced on Deadline, I’m incredibly proud to share that Stage 32 is now the official home of the new Global Screenwriting Contest Hub: a centralized destination where screenwriters can submit to the world’s most trusted and career-launching contests! With over 1.3 million members in the Stage 32 community and over 250,000 screenwriters in our community, there is no better place than Stage 32 for screenwriters online. 

This is more than a replacement. It’s a reimagination. We are stepping in as the new premier destination for screenwriters to submit to top-tier screenwriting competitions from around the world. The Stage 32 Global Screenwriting Contest Hub brings together an impressive lineup of prestigious contests, including the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival Screenplay Contest, BAFTA-qualifying Manchester Film Festival Screenplay Contest, PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, Vail Film Festival Screenplay Awards, Big Apple Film Festival Feature Screenplay Competition, Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards, Filmmatic, and Palm Springs Diversity Screenplay Contest, among others. Dozens more contests from across the globe have committed to hosting their contests on Stage 32’s Global Screenwriting Contest Hub. 

We’ve built a better, more transparent, and community-first experience for writers across the globe, and we’re just getting started.

Not only that, but we've brought in a dream team who helped build Coverfly to be able to do it....

We are stepping in as the new premier destination for screenwriters to submit to top-tier screenwriting competitions from around the world...

The Team Behind the Hub

To oversee the platform we have hired 3 former high ranking members of the Coverfly team who were instrumental in building out that platform:

• Geoffrey Faugérolas who most recently served as Senior Manager of Development at Coverfly where he most notably discovered and shepherded Chris Hicks, the writer of the record-breaking short story I AM NOT ALONE based off of IP which sold to Netflix, penned and directed by Misha Green with Jessica Chastain to star.
• Mitch Lusas, former Chief Operating Officer of Coverfly, has joined Stage 32 as our new Chief Technology Officer
• Nate Witty, who helped build the platforms for ScreenCraft, Script Lab, and Coverfly, is now one of our key Engineers

These guys know contests and script resources. They know what works, what doesn’t, and how to build a system that’s transparent, fair, and focused on what truly matters: helping writers break in.

Most importantly, they believe in the Stage 32 mission and are passionate about helping our members succeed at the highest possible level.
