The Golden Eagles Southeast Missouri State University Marching Band has been playing since 1957 and has played to thousands of spectators throughout the United States and abroad. The USC Marching Band have played at national football league games, including the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs. They have also performed for two NFL Pro Bowl football games and a few super bowls. It's a Southern University Band. The band is known for being one of the most televised university marching bands in the US. In 2008, they arrived in Edinburgh, Scotland to perform at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo becoming only the second marching band ever invited to the event showcasing the students music. On their Scotland trip, they performed for a five weeks carrying out their display over thirty times. They were seen by over 217,000 live at the castle and from the BBC Broadcast, over 10 million from the UK and an additional 100 million worldwide watching the United States Marching Band. This video shows the Golden Eagles Brass Bands perform Hey Baby for the Lord Provost in the City Chambers in Edinburgh, Scotland on Monday, July 28th, 2008. Also during that day, the Golden Eagles serenaded the wife of the Lord Provost during a reception not to mention singing the Southeast Alma Mater. The Student Bands tunes or US Marching songs performed include Yankee Doodle song and St Louis Blues as well as America the Beautiful, God Bless America and America's Got Talent. Southeast Missouri State University is a public school located in Cape Girardeau in the United States near the banks of the Mississippi River. It boasts over two hundred areas of study which includes undergraduate degrees as well as master degrees where music education is an option. The University has over 10,000 students and allows them to audition for taking part in US Marching Bands. The Southeast Missouri region or South County Missouri is known as the Lead Belt. Counties in this region include Saint Francois, Crawford, Dent, Iron, Madison, Reynolds and Washington. College Marching Bands are a common sight in these regions. The Golden Eagles Team are specifically from South East Missouri. The 2008 Edinburgh Tattoo was an interesting mix of performers from across the globe. There were 1,000 performers from America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United Kingdom. The acts include the massed pipes and drums, massed bands, overseas acts and the lone piper on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. The popular pipes and drums will play Heilan Laddie and We're No Awa Tae Bide Awa. These bands consist of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, 1st Battalion the Royal Regiments of Scotland, The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion the Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, Scotland's Universitie' Officers Training Corps, the Queen Victoria School Dunblane while overseas bands include the Rats of Tobruk from Australia as well as the Singapore Police Gurkha Pipes and Drums after a 17 -- year absence. Top College Bands include the one hundred strong Golden Eagles marching college band was present on it's US road trip as well as the Tattoo's own Highland Spring Dance troupe who joined fifty dancers from Canada. Singapore made a third appearance in tattoo history in the form of the pipes and drums accompanied by the 55 strong Police Military Band and all woman Police Pipe Band. The all girl Lochiel Champion Marching Drill Team made a welcome return from Wellington in New Zealand. A band from India appeared at the Tattoo, the first since 46 years previously. There was forty musicians from the Indian Army Chief's Military Band from Delhi. Finally, the Guard of His Majesty the King of Norway appears after several performances in the past such as in 2005, 2001 and 1993 and further than that even. This year truly proved to be a battle of bands. Pupils from Dunblane Queen Victoria School played as well as the Bands of Her Majesty's Royal Marines from Plymouth, Portsmouth and Scotland. Over the years, State College Bands have increasingly been making appearances at the Tattoo, many being some of the best College Bands.
