I use a laptop that I bring with me when I wanna sit somewhere away from my desk, otherwise, I connect it to my monitor with an external keyboard and mouse. (It's all about the feel of the typing for me)
I'm sure you can do that with a tablet too with one of those covers that comes with a keyboard. I haven't tried this personally.
I guess also is your preferred software available on both and has the functionality you want (sometimes they drop pieces of functionality for 'mobile'). etc.
Bonus for laptop: You don't need to buy/bring a bunch of accessories to setup. Just open it and you're ready to go.
I have both: a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro with a keyboard, but I end up using only the iPad for it’s easier to carry. I take it everywhere and with me.
Also, I have the final draft app, which is cheaper than the version for laptop.
I would say a laptop for me. It's an interesting reason though. For me, the sound of keys clicking kind of puts me into a meditative state. A thing that helps me be more creative. When the keys stop clicking there is something wrong.
Laptops! I have two old MacBooks and two newer Acer decks, three of the four have various versions of Final Draft, but the main point versus tip-tapping on a tablet is that at certain times I love being able to really BANG ON THE KEYBOARD and experience the exhilarating clackity-clack of genius.
I have a MacBook Air M1 with Final Draft for writing. It's actually lighter and thinner than an iPad with a keyboard. I recently also bought an iPad with pen for marking up screenplay pdfs for peers. And I can hold it in my hand to see my pitch notes. I also figure I can use it to show a pitch deck. Typing is much better on the Macbook Air.
I find it much easier to work on a laptop, plus apps like Final Draft are easier to use split screen :) But ... I do use a tablet occasionally when I am travelling to make changes or add bits to a script. However, it is never anything major. But you gotta do what works for you!
Generally I prefer a laptop (after writing the vast majority by hand) BUT I've seen those new sort-of typewriters - where it's a keyboard with a small screen and doesn't connect to a web browser (it's bluetooth-enabled) so that you're only seeing your file and can't get distracted. Really good idea for travel but I hate the idea of having ANOTHER device lol
Hello, friends! I choose a Laptop because I am sure that it is more functional and performs more tasks, which has a positive effect on my writing efficiency. Also, such a device is more suitable for sending emails, as written in this article https://setapp.com/how-to/email-a-gif-on-mac-in-seconds to constantly be in touch with customers and script writing partners. This is very important to save time and rationally use your resources. Although, in general, I understand that this is more of an individual decision.

I think a laptop is more suitable because you can use both hands to type, Carmen Ferreira. Unless you have a tablet stand.

Laptop all the way. I first used one in 1991 and realized I could write in a restaurant. No one has been able to replace a good laptop IMHO.

I use a MacBook laptop and a iMac desktop. Either works for me. But have been looking to get an iPad for myself as well.

I use an iPad for most of my writing. It can be taken anywhere, more portable than a laptop.
