Hello everyone! Just curious, what is everyone working on now and is there anything holding you back?
Hello everyone! Just curious, what is everyone working on now and is there anything holding you back?
Good afternoon, I’d like to get some feedback from the group about taking my suspense novel to a screenplay. What avenues would you suggest?
Thank you,
Stacy Leicht
I don't know much about screenplays but there are experts in our Stage32 community that know all! Welcome!
Hello Stacy. I echo what DE White said. It depends if you’re looking to adapt it yourself or have somebody else do it. Screenwriting is a very different skill but many authors have done it.
I don't have a background with screenwriting so I’d need an agent to help. Thanks everyone!
Hi Stacy! I do this kind of work all the time. Here's an article I wrote about a few of the unique challenges :)

Hi Stacy Leicht - I'd also recommend this Stage 32 webinar on the adaptation journey from book to film/TV. Micky Levy gives great advice: https://www.stage32.com/education?p=8944891724083...

Is there a specific space hete for fiction writers who are looking to get their manuscripts made into screenplays?
Hi, Stacy Leicht. Stage 32 has an Authoring & Playwriting Lounge (www.stage32.com/lounge/playwriting). You could make a post asking for advice on how to get your manuscript(s) made into screenplay(s)....

Hope you do great on your Commerce exam, Malinka Chandrasekara! You could make a collaboration post on the Job Board when you're ready to find a writing partner (www.stage32.com/find-jobs)....

Three are finished, two are ready for international competitions, one is too deep to be understood just yet, and the seventh… is writing itself, dictated by a truth that won’t let me sleep. My day job slows me down a bit, but I’m already at 80 pages and getting close to the finish line. What’s holding me back? Only the fact that sometimes ideas come too fast and I don’t have enough pages to catch them all. But that’s alright. Masterpieces don’t ask if you have time they demand to exist. I just catch them mid-air. See you at the top, fellow writers. And yes I’m dangerous. I have no friends when it comes to my craft.

Expand commentI'm wrapping up my first draft of "Therapy Sessions". A female lead thriller that finds the client of a newly licensed shrink turns out to be the person that kidnapped and killed her younger sister 12 years earlier. It seems she was his original target and is now trapped by client/patient privilege from disclosing this information. So, what's her work-around? That involves her mentor from med school, her mother and her former boyfriend now a member of an Irish mob.

Hunted and haunted by the avalanche that killed her sister, Cassie must survive the killers, the cold, and her own trauma—while her pilot boyfriend and two FBI agents race against time to find her before the storm, or the robbers, claim her life.

Expand commentA HUGE video game script with many options. Like RED DEAD, but with mystical visions, and a true story (mostly) from a chauffeur/security driver/bodyguard that witnessed the worst and best of humanity, first hand. Redemption and revenge, archangels and demons...they are real in his world.
Complex video game scripts are like 3 full features in one. 55558 words so far-adding the options now. It's about done. Did I do one before? Never. One of my co-writers, a stage 32 person, has played them for decades, so he knows the option language.
Try something HUGE and new. Why not? Grow or die.
And rewriting another thriller at Philip Lee's suggestion. Also on stage 32.
Open to writing anything about anything for anyone anywhere. I am VERY quick.
