When a recovering drug addict springs a world-changing idea that catches the attention of interstellar beings, they fear such advancement may ignite a bloody civil war in their world.
SYNOPSIS:
My novel, The Coming Storm, could be made into a screenplay if requested. The story is as follows:
Uriel Gould, a recovering drug addict and failed CDO investor, plummets to his lowest point in life in a Buddhist recovery center and gives birth to an idea called the Method. This method associates two methodologies, one scientific and one contemplative. The symbiotic nature of the model, he believes, may spark the birth of a dharma collective consciousness. This discovery morphs into a dissertation that the academic defense committee at City College of New York rejects, finding it a borderline pseudoscientific practice. Such a result devastates Uriel and pushes him close to suicide.
In the parallel deva universe, on the afro-futurist planet of Bhuva, southern practitioner Refu observes this Method during his Earth research and tells his teacher, the Arhat Johari, about this astounding idea. Johari and Refu study Uriel’s Method and read the dissertation. Flabbergasted, they give it to one of the brightest scientists on Bhuva, Johari’s daughter, Almari, who trembles at the power of the model. Together, the three devise a plan to intervene and bring Uriel to Bhuva, but they can’t do it alone. They meet with a sympathetic northern practitioner, Rama, who is able to access bestowed magic. Johari convinces him that Uriel could be the Maitreya Buddha prophesied by the historical Buddha Gotama. Upon hearing this, Rama is willing to use his northern magic to help.
The four succeed in bringing Uriel to Bhuva, but this is when the trouble starts.
