SYNOPSIS:

After a hard football practice Billy spends the evening with his girlfriend in a park. She goes home and Billy heads to his house in an affluent neighborhood. He never makes it home and his last known location on his phone leads his father and police officers to an abandoned service station.

Wesley wakes up at the same time every morning 4:29am. He is a guy that trains in the gym hard and wears a suit. He goes to the gym.

His son wakes up a couple hours later, his phone app PROSPECT altering the exercises he needs to do. After the exercises he cooks breakfast for he and his dad and has to head out early because of a football meeting.

Wesley goes to his office where he reveals to a man that his wife has been cheating on him. They share a drink as the man takes in the bad news and later in the afternoon Wesley is having another drink and listens to the last voicemail his wife ever left him. At that time Susanne Merit, wife of William Merit arrives at the office. She begs him to take the case.

After talking to his former partner at the police station who agrees to share what the police have Wesley takes the case. While he is interviewing the parents William gets a text message of a ping location of Billy. Wesley goes and the police are already there. Billy’s letterman jacket is all they find.

That week, Austin is walking home in the poor side of town and is attacked and taken. The next day Michelle picks up Wesley who takes him with her to interview Austin’s parents. There’s no way it’s a coincidence but they don’t want to tell them there may be a serial kidnapper out there. Bruce and Jasmine are druggies.

Wesley takes the note that Bruce once attended the prominent Military School that is now abandoned and derelict. At the bar Wesley and Michelle are trying to compare notes. Michelle mentions how she ran into Jason last night. That Jason doesn’t know if he wants to go to Homecoming or not.

Wesley scoffs at the idea. His son is the quarterback of the football team. Any girl he asks will say yes. Michelle asks how it’s possible that Wesley is still in denial. Wesley asks Michelle if they’re talking about a missing person case or his son’s sexuality? He goes to get another drink.

When Wesley gets home drunk he and Jason have a huge argument about how Wesley couldn’t even stay sober on his mother’s birthday. Jason tells him that is what made him get drunk. They argue about homecoming and Jason tells his father that he doesn’t really think that “normal is in their cards.”

That night Jason sneaks out and goes to his friend Mark’s house, the local theater nut. Mark practices a monologue from Mary Shelly’s The Mortal Immortal. A noise outside distracts Mark and he turns his attention to the window. Hands pull Mark outside and we learn that it is Jason. Gloria, Mark’s mother comes in and invites Jason to stay the night. That night Jason asks Mark if he’ll go to homecoming with him.

A box arrives at Bruce and Jasmine’s apartment and Wesley and Michelle arrive to investigate it. Wesley opens the box marked: Austin. All that is in it is old protective football gear. The cup has a note in it that when it falls says: “I Think he wants to kiss it.” Bruce locks himself in the bathroom. Jasmine goes to make coffee. Wesley and Michelle talk about what that could possibly mean. Jasmine gets angry that there’s no creamer and Bruce walks into the bedroom. As jasmine screams at Bruce and enters the bedroom a gunshot goes off. Bruce kills himself.

Things are getting crazy. Wesley pulls up next to Jason who’s walking to school and tells him to get in. They argue a little bit and Wesley drives Jason and Mark to school. Wesley leaves the car keys with Jason and tells him that wherever he is, he wants to know.

That night Jason and his football friends have their meeting with the talent scout looking at their performances. Victor tells Jason that he might be a special kid. Wesley approaches angry that Jason didn’t tell him he was going to the diner. They go home.

They argue. Jason complains about Wesley’s drinking and Wesley fires back about the morality of rainbows. It was too much. Jason tells his dad sometimes he wishes he was at the club that night. Jason locks himself in his room. Wesley goes out to Rick’s.

Michelle comes out to meet Wesley. They talk. She tells him that he’s not a bad dad. The fact that he stopped himself from calling his son the f word is proof of that. Wesley confesses that his wife always knew. She was the one that bought him that rainbow bracelet the week before she died. Michelle pulls out her badge and talks about the power of a police badge. How it protects her. However, there are still places she would never wear that badge because of how dangerous it could be. Jason wears his bracelet wherever he goes well aware of the potential danger, consequences be damned. He inherited that courage from his father.

Wesley runs into William at Bruce’s funeral and learns they both went to the same high school. The now defunct military academy. Wesley gets ahold of the 2000 year book and opens it up. He learns that the in loving memory of Alan Wick is a suicide victim that was a student at the school. William, Bruce and Garret (Jason’s best friend’s dad) were all people of interest and at the school they were called the Three Amigos.

Wesley misses Jason’s game winning homecoming throw. They get into an argument before the dance. At the dance Jason is crowned home coming king. Elizabeth Body is crowned home coming queen. Wesley watches as Elizabeth and his son dance. Liz tells Jason that she knows what he really wants. She breaks away from him and takes Mark by the hand and leads him to the dance floor to be dance with Jason.

Wesley feels uncomfortable as everyone cheers. Benjamin gets a text from his dad. Wesley sees Ben goes outside and he follows him. At his dad’s truck Garret is tied up in the front seat. Ben tries to untie his dad but is attacked from behind with chloroform. Just as Ben is fading out Wesley slams into the culprit. They fight and Wesley gets shocked by a cattle prod. Garret is dragged out of the truck and the culprit races off in the truck.

The police are at the gym and everyone is getting questions answered. Wesley can’t find his son. Jason and Mark are up at a look out location. They are talking about their families. Just as they are about to kiss a truck’s headlights expose them. The talent scout gets out of the truck and tells Jason he has to go with him.

Jason tells Mark to lock himself in the car. He thinks he can take him. Jason and Victor, the talent scout fight. As Jason is losing suddenly Mark jumps onto Victor’s back. He clamps down on Victor’s neck with his teeth. In the struggle Victor’s attention is taken away from Jason. Victor throws Mark over the cliff.

Jason tackles Victor and slams his fist into Victor’s face over and over again. Victor catches Jason’s fist by his bracelet. The bracelet snaps but gives Victor enough time to grab the cattle prod and shock Jason.

Wesley arrives at the lookout too late. He manages to find Mark and save his life. He gets a text message about where Jason is. He goes to his office to get a gun, the office has been ransacked. The gun is gone. A video recording is on his computer for him to watch. In the video Victor deletes the last voicemail of Wesley’s wife right in front of a devastated Jason.

Before Wesley can leave Michelle stops him. She tells him that he has thirty minutes, after that the hammer is coming down. It’s a “personal courtesy.” She hands him her side arm.

Wesley arrives at the military school shortly before William and Garret. The school is decorated with 2000 year photographs and the pictures and videos of the torturous things Victor put Billy and Austin through.

Eventually they make their way to the locker rooms where the boys are in the shower of a flooded locker room and are forced to re-enact the abuse their father’s caused Victor, Jason cast into the part of Victor.

When William sees his son in danger he rushes the showers. Victor jabs him in the chest with the cattle prod. William is a tough son of a bitch, he tries to get back up when most people drop. Two is one too many. William is forced unconscious. Garret sneaks down the side of one of the locker columns.

A final command that Austin cannot bring himself to follow results in Victor trying to electrocute the wet boy but Wesley fires his gun bringing an end to the madness. William wraps his arm around the legs of Victor. Garret tackles Victor. Victor reaches out for the cattle prod, Jason grabs it at the same time.

They all fight. Victor manages to ignite the prod in the water. Everyone gets shocked and falls. The gun goes off and shrapnel goes into Jason’s eyes. Victor runs and Wesley gives chase.

Inside the now empty swimming pool Wesley fights Victor in a knock down drag out fist fight. Victor remains standing. He leaves the pool and climbs into Garret’s truck.

The truck doesn’t start. The headlights reveal Ben holding a serpentine belt. Victor gets out of the car and tells Ben how easy it was. They all downloaded the app. His app. Chris walks into the light dragging a chain. Tucker holder a crowbar. Victor turns to run back to the car but Ben presses the key fob to lock the door. The shadows of the act show Victor’s demise as blood splatters on the wall.
