At the same time, Detective Elise van Dijk, specializing in human trafficking, begins an investigation into a growing number of cases of missing young women. All the women are from Eastern Europe and Asia and have ended up in illegal prostitution. Elise uncovers a pattern: the victims are recruited by a professional-looking network that operates across multiple countries.

Meanwhile, American FBI agent Michael Carters discovers a digital connection to a criminal network in the Netherlands during a raid in Miami. It turns out that the same organization is also luring American victims to Europe. This leads to an international collaboration between the FBI and the Dutch authorities.
