SYNOPSIS:

DICK DICKMAN bursts forth from obscurity on January 6th, 2021, when he leads a crowd of insurrectionists to storm the Capitol Building. Dick’s sudden notoriety causes one of his old YouTube videos to go viral in which he makes the bizarre case that ANDY WARHOL is the sole progenitor of all the evil that has been unleashed on America. This video catches the attention of a group of RICH GERIATRIC HIPPIES that arrange for Dick’s bail after he is incarcerated. The hippies present themselves as allies to Dick, explaining that they share his hatred for Warhol since they believe his mass-produced commercialized art undermined their flower power dreams. Dick is then introduced to CHIEF IKTOMI RAMANUJAN (“Chief Raj”), a half-Laktota-Sioux shaman and half-Indian mystic with the power to take a single able-bodied passenger on a one-way trip back in time to 1962 to assassinate Warhol before he unleashes his destructive art upon the world. After some initial resistance, Dick accepts this mission.

Dick and Chief Raj embark on their voyage to the past through the “Mirror Realm,” a surreal world constructed from Dick’s memories, dreams, and imaginings. The Mirror Realm consists of a series of trials in which Dick will encounter versions of his past self from across the decades to prepare his spirit. Only when Dick overcomes his attachment to his past will he be ready to fulfill his destiny. Through this series of trials, Dick’s entire worldview is obliterated by the recognition that his current lonely, empty life is the result of a series of instances in which he chose fear over love in response to trauma, deeply internalized shame, and his need for validation, recognition, and redemption. In light of this harsh epiphany, Dick finds himself deeply conflicted about completing his mission. However, when he finds himself as a child in 1972, painting a glowing, saint-like portrait of Warhol, he is reminded of something he lost long ago, and his heart grows light. Dick lets go, and he passes through a portal, exiting the Mirror Realm.

To Dick’s surprise, when he arrives armed to the teeth at Andy Warhol’s Factory in 1962, he discovers that Warhol is surrounded by a collection of unexpected suitors: all of the past versions of himself from his journey through the Mirror Realm. It is in that defining moment that he and the audience will come to understand the true nature and significance of Dick’s journey when he takes a revolutionary action in which he embraces life, death, and the transformative power of love.
