hi, and ta daaa!! Introducing Tori Clay and it is a pleasure for you to meet me! I am a SAGAFTRA member actress that was moderately successful and came close to making it big more than once. I started out as Vic Clay but when I came out as Tori Clay a transgender female actress, my agent dropped me and my career evaporated. Vic had a resume with credits in acting, directing, producing, packaging, writing, shooting, stunts, coaching privately, coaching on set, singer/dancer, standup, dinner theatre, musician, comedy improv, stunt driving, precision driving, and more in about 70 films and 25 plays. Tori has only been able to get a couple of plays since I came out about 3.5 years ago. I get it, though, almost any gig that wants a transwoman is seeking one that is young and gorgeous and has a feminine voice.
Now, I have a few other irons in the fire. I am a graphic artist, author, rock musician, and singer/songwriter,. Also the first ever transgender female art model to be signed to an agency contract which means I get booked to pose nude for artists. Now, all of a sudden, after me being away from music for decades and not playing or singing my stuff for anyone since I was a kid with perfect hearing, my music is blowing up. In the last few weeks I have played at an outdoor fest, a talent show, and some open mics and then on the 4th of July, I played on the Boston Common in the bandstand. Next weekend I will play my original "message rock" as part of the Figment Festival in Boston on the Greenway. they do Figment all over the country. I got to play my, "As Seen On TV" tune for a bunch of really pro songwriters and they loved it and called it gold and perfect. These are peeps with album credits and members of BMI and ASCAP. I was stunned.
I am also the director of the Screaming Ostrich Filmmaker's Festival. See all our details at www.screamingostrich.com . We are a not-for-profit venture for content up to 15 minutes long in any format including projects that have been seen before. Just be over 18 to submit, no porn, no hate and we use Film Freeway. It all happens this Oct, 18,19,20 in Boston, Ma. We are focused on diversity and since we are happening so close to Halloween, all horror and grindcore and etc is especially welcome. We are planning a lot of ancillary activities as well as some special guests and we have a couple of honorees.

Expand commentThanks for all your efforts to help us and the opp to suggest educational tangents. Mine is for a very limited audience though. I will put it out there. I was a moderately successful sagaftra actor with a resume of about 60 films and 25 plays, a hit commercial, and way more as I did pretty much everything one can do above and below the line. Plus combat, stunt driving, precision driving, coaching, coaching on set, stand up, comedy improv and more. I worked with A-list stars and I don't mean bg. I mean close enough to get pranked and to prank them back. I came out as a transgender woman about 5 years ago and my agent dumped me. In the next 4.5 years, I had 2 plays. I quit the union recently as it was a needless financial drain as I can not even get bg anymore. Now or at least until the virus closed all the clubs around here, Boston, I was using a just discovered talent as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and in the few months that I was doing it, pre-covid, I had already played a big benefit and a bunch of clubs and more recently I played live on a Hollywood radio station to a national audience on election day doing a political song and an lgbt benefit on the bill with Melissa Ferrick. It all started on a dare too. And now a producer that loves my stuff is taking me into a studio on his dime to record.
But, back to acting, I get it. All the transgender female roles are for young, attractive, ones with gorgeous hair and a real feminine voice. None of which are me. Recently I did 4 shows with the same lgbt production company online but only the first one as female. The following 3 were, as a Russian male assassin, then a Texan 'Nam vet, and then a game show host. Now, out of the union, I have more options though.
So my suggestion is some male to female transgender-centered training, especially for ones like me that are still saddled with an incongruous male voice. I even sing as a male. I know there is not much chance of it but no one else does it either. As far as I know anyway. Thanks for your time..
Karen "Kay" Ross Thanks! I am going to do just that! I definitely will enter it into the contest! Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!!!
